Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Education on topics related to substance use including health risks and possible consequences, current drug use trends and the dangers of multiple drug interactions.
Beginning Alcohol and Addictions Basic Education Studies (BABES) is a primary prevention curriculum, which uses puppets to teach lessons. Colorful “friends” are humanized to be the men, women and children we know to assist young people in developing positive life skills such as self-esteem, decision-making, coping, getting help and living with chemical dependency in the home. BABES is presented in six to ten classroom sessions.
Character Education Educates students on self-esteem, feelings, making choices and alcohol and other drug prevention through stories, songs, games and other age appropriate activities.
Family Asset Building works with students and families to develop the positive life skills found in most resilient youth. The program focuses on research and practice as the best way to discover what kids really need, learning how to best meet those needs and getting that information into the hands of the people who make a difference.
Life Skills Training is for middle school students teaches basic alcohol and other drug information and has been proven to increase students’ assertiveness, self–confidence and personal control. At its best, the course is taught for 15 classes the first year, ten classes the second year and five classes the third year.
Ohio Works Drug-Free Is a collaborative with Fairfield Information Services to prepare companies for participation in the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Drug–Free Workplace Program and save on BWC premiums. The program may include policy development, supervisor and employee training and drug testing to maintain a drug–free workplace.
Parent/Teacher Education provides education and resources on variety of alcohol and other drug related topics including, but not limited to, signs and symptoms, family roles, drugs and paraphernalia, progression of drug use and how to support a student in recovery.
Project Alert teaches students to identify and resist pressures which lead to experimentation with drugs and at preventing teenagers who are experimenting with drugs from becoming regular uses.
Red Flags teaches students, parents and school staff how to recognize and respond to signs of depression and related mental illnesses. Includes video–based curriculum for students, in–service training for school personnel and a seminar for parents, students and staff.
Red Ribbon Campaign occurs throughout the United States each October to celebrate “drug free” choices (“no illegal use of drugs and no use of illegal drugs”). Schools, businesses, families and other community members participate in planned events to raise awareness about alcohol and other drug issues.
Teen Institute is a positive peer prevention program for middle and high school students which targets alcohol and other drug use and abuse by emphasizing community service projects. Includes an annual training retreat.
Tobacco Education teaches students about the harmful effects and related consequences of tobacco use. Curriculum includes the addictive process, coping skills, developing support networks, and relapse prevention.
Talking With Your Students About Alcohol (TWYSAA) is designed to reduce the risk of children experiencing any type of alcohol-related problem throughout their lives. Students learn ways to establish low-risk attitudes and beliefs about alcohol and other drugs to use for a lifetime.
Talking With Your Kids About Alcohol (TWYKAA) can help prevent serious problems in a child’s life by teaching parents how to talk to their children about drug use and establish their own low–risk attitudes and beliefs about alcohol.
Violence Prevention teaches students how to distinguish between different types of conflicts and develop skills for dealing with everyday conflict, what types of conflict resolution result in positive or negative outcomes and how to communicate and collaborate with others to solve problems.
Wellness Program educates students on self–esteem, feelings, making choices and alcohol and other drug prevention through stories, songs, games and other age appropriate activities.
